A Dance In Her 60 Year Old Step

If you know my mom you know that she always has a dance in her step and a song in her heart. You'd never know it - but today she's 60!
I'm rededicating two songs to her today ...

Back in 1953, her family had just immigrated to Canada and her mom had the "hutspah" to have the local radio station dedicate "Bimbo Bimbo" by Jim Reeves (or Gene Autry) in celebration of her birthday.

Flash forward to the 1980s. My brother and sister and I spent hours trying to get through to the CKDA request and dedication line (no redial button mind you!!).
We finally get a "hello, and what is your request?".
Dan-o grabs the phone and in his squeeky pre-teen voice says "We want to dedicate 'Footloose' to our mom!"
"Does your mom like that song?"
"Yep - she even dances on the table to it!"
Remember the context - my dad's a pastor - Footloose is about dancing being taboo and a wild pastor's daughter - and to top it all off we turn up the radio so everyone in the house can hear it. Everyone - including the dozen or so church folks having a meeting in the living room with my mom! She didn't get up on the table to dance - but she did get a lot of laughs!

Here's to mom. You'll never be too old to dance on tables!
