This summer was AWESOME - and I'm not using that word flippantly, it was awesome.
Back in June we sat down as a family and everyone had a chance to say a few things that they would love to do this summer.
Our faithful listmaker extrodanaire Eden had pen and paper ready. She recorded every little thing we suggested.

- rootbeer float night
- star gazing
- run on sand dunes
- swim in a lake
- go camping
- amusement park
The list went on and on.
At the end of our brainstorm session Eden declared, "This is going to be the Summer of Awesomeness!"
And so it was coined - The Summer of Awesomeness.

We printed up that list and hung it on the fridge.
One by one the adventures were scratched off the list.
It was an awesome summer.
The day after Labour Day marked the end of summer. Our list of awesome adventures was almost complete. Our pencils were sharpened. Our school room was clean (only time in the year it's clean!). And we headed off to the home schoolers "Not-Going-Back-To-School" Picnic. Always a fun time ... we played games, ate food, face painted, and made new friends.
This year the picnic included a prize table - and my dear Karis had her heart set on one prize in particular, a clear plastic kit filled with jump ropes, bubbles and side walk chalk. And of course she came home with that desired prize!
When we got home she eagerly pulled the tags off her prize and handed them to me. "Look!", she said, "It's the perfect prize, it's called 'A Summer Blessed'. And we really did have a summer blessed!"

I dared not break her poor little heart and inform that it was a good thing we were heading back into the school year because the tag said, "A Summer BLAST" not blessed. Of course her less sensitive little brother quickly blurted out, "That says BLAST, not BLESSED. Our summer was a blast, not blessed." (read with a loud, nasally, snooty kind of a voice)

Well, I beg to differ.
Our summer was blessed.
AND our summer was a blast.
It can be both.
And yes, it's a good thing we're hitting the books again. All that summer awesomeness left us no time to read!
I'm back in the saddle of writing.
Back in the busy-ness of the school year.
Back in routine. And oh, how I love having a little routine.
I'm ready to see what God has in store for us this year. It certainly is a wild ride!
