On Hold

There are times when our lives are put "on hold". This week our lives have been on hold as we remembered the life of George's grandfather George Sowolla.

Last Thursday, the day before his 86th birthday and after a few years of declining health George's Pap died and went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We had good cries and good laughs as a family, we played and we prayed, and we ate lots of sandwiches! George had the awesome yet difficult privelege of conducting the funeral and his mother gave an amazing speech remembering her father. All in all it was a good weekend.

It did cause me to think about my life and about what is important. We had lots of plans for the weekend - plans that did not include a trip to Pennsylvania and a funeral. Our plans were put on hold ... our plans for retreats, for conferences, for dinner clubs, for small groups, for birthday parties and for launch team meetings. All of our plans were good plans, plans we thought were about the building of the church and our own spiritual growth. But as we put those plans on hold we were reminded that Jesus said, "I will build the church". Even with our plans on hold Jesus' work in building the church continues - He will amaze us with His plans, that I am sure of.

This was an important time in the life of our family. So, while our lives as we planned them were on hold it is evident that God was and always is at work. Today, we are are re-grouping, doing laundry, making lessons plans, and getting back to work. It is a good day.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Please share our sympathy with George.
It sounds like your time with family was nice, despite the circumstances. I am praying for all of you!
