Girl's Day

The boys were gone and the girls played! After saying good-bye to George (at a conference in Indiana) and dropping Justin off at Nana and Bumpas, we made a quick stop at the Superstore for pizza, pop, a 1lb chocolate bar and frozen pretzels (I wanted to get Hungry Man t.v. dinners but Karis would have nothing to do with them because they have the word "man" in them). And thus began the eve of girl's day! We got up early, did the essential school work, went to piano lessons and had the rest of the day to ourselves.

With the snow piling up on the porch (ugh!) we were thrilled to have hot tea, a fire place and a whole lot of sewing supplies. Today was the day to teach the girls to sew. We started with embroidery (or "I'm-bored-dery") and then moved on to designing purses and other soon-to-be Christmas gifts. We made one lengthy trip to the fabric store to replenish our supply and a pit-stop at Wendy's for food (who has time to even eat when we're so busy creating!). We aren't even close to being done and the boys are now home.

Truth be told, George is probably a better sewer (not seamstress!) than I and Justin loves the machinery of the sewing machine. It may be a family endeavor tomorrow.

Stay tuned for more "Homemade Christmas" happenings.

I can't wait to see the pictures of what Eden and Karis sew after they completing their projects. Hey after they're finished making Christmas projects, maybe you can get them to sew the shades for your kitchen that you've meaning to get to for a long time and you're off the hook to do that job. Just kidding, if you ask them to do it, they will never ever sew anything for you again.
