Summer Summary

It's here.
Tomorrow we are officially back in the business of school. Not that the learning ever ended - but summer brought with it a much needed change of pace.
But, more on school tomorrow.
Tonight I'm sharing a glimpse at our final weeks of summer. The last few weeks where we crammed in everything that we wanted to do in the summer but hadn't.
Idlewild - located near Johnstown, PA. Claims to be the 2nd best amusement park for kids in America. They won't reveal what the best park is. So even after a great day at the park we are left with the feeling that somewhere out there someone had a better day than us at America's BEST amusement park for kids. But for the Saylor kids it's all good. And summer just isn't summer until you've ridden the Round About FIVE times in a row (incidentally Saylor mom and dad get sick just watching the Round About, therefore the kids ride it alone)!

Canoeing in the USS Missoula II. This canoe is one-of-a-kind - made out of wooden orange crates by Boy Scouts in the 70's and refurbished by George's dad over the past few summers.

One final camping trip with friends at Lakewood. I brought pretty beads and string to make necklaces - the girls decided they would rather make fishing rods with my beads and string, add a safety pin and chunk of ham and they thought they might catch dinner! No such luck.

The Breakfast of Champions. Smore Pancakes - pancake with Neutella and a toasted marshmallow. And for dessert - Lucky Charm Pancakes. This breakfast follows the rule of camping cooking, most meals that taste amazing while you are camping taste like garbage if you try to cook it at home. So don't try this at home.

It's officially summer until September 23 (also known as George's birthday) so I'm not closing the door on a little more summer fun. School may start tomorrow but the fun will continue.
