Mr. Pinchy Lived A Good Life

Or rather, "Mr. Pinchy helped US live a good life!"
We started a tradition on our first anniversary. We took an envelope, put $50 in it and got creative with how to use that cash to celebrate the anniversary.

The first year we actually divided the money, we each took $25 and had to surprise the other person with a date worth $25. I blew the whole wad and bought myself flowers. Now, before you start chastising me, you need to know that I love flowers and at the time George NEVER bought me flowers (they die, what a waste!). He obviously didn't know me very well!

George, on the other got very creative. If you're from Meadville you know what I'm talking about when I say that with $25 he was able to take me to Eddies Footlong for hotdogs, out to Henks for custard icecream, played Skeeball (25cents!) at the waterfront carnival, and came home for backyard fireworks! The boy knows how to make a little money go a LONG way!

That was our first anniversary. Twelve years later the tradition continues. We upped the envelope and now had $70 dollars to spend. We once again made a little go a long way. 24 hours kid free and $70 to burn - here's how we did it:

Dinner At Home
2 Live Lobsters
Corn on the cob
Asparagus
Focacia Bread
Fun Drinks
Total: $27

Out to the Movies (Iron Man)
Loads of candy from the dollar store: $2.69
Tickets: $16

Breakfast out @ Coras
Two extra large breakfasts: $32

For more on the saga of Mr. Pinch meeting his quick and sure death here is photographic proof.

Alive and well ... gently carried home from the grocery store in a cardboard box.

Just in time for a bath ... a really, really hot bath.

Mr. Pinchy is looking a little sunburned.

All that remained of Mr. Pinchy. It was not a pretty sight.
