This Is The House That PAP Built

I've had more than a few inquiries as to the events surrounding the photo displayed in yesterday's post.
Questions like:  "huh?" and "what in the world?" and "really?".

So to clear up any confusion you may have, this photo:

was taken on the same day that this photo was taken:

which happened to be the very same day that this photo was taken:

It all makes perfect sense now.  Doesn't it?
Or not?
Hmmm ....
Maybe this will clear it up.

You see, one day back in August we took one last visit to a lovely little house, in the coal mining town of Revloc, PA.

One last trip to the house that Pap built - or at least that he re-built and built-up.

This was the house that Gram lived in from the day she was born until the day she died.  Can you believe that?  The same house for over 80 years.  Can someone call the Guinness Book of World Records?

This was the house that Gram carefully decorated with a beautiful style that was all her own.

This was the house that Gram cooked countless meals for anyone and everyone who needed their belly filled.  This was the very house in which she baked over 100 dozen cookies for our wedding ... did you catch that, 100 dozen cookies!

That day in August, we went for one last visit.  We took a few mementos.
We laughed over old wigs and pistols in cookie jars (no bullets, I promise you!).
We shed a few tears.

The house has now sold.
New owners have moved in.
A new family will make this their home.
Our crazy little visit full of laughter, jokes and a tear or two tell the whole story - this is a story of joy and pain.  Joyful memories.  Pain in the loss.  Hope in the promise of everlasting life.

One last peak at Gram's house - the house that Pap built.

I won't even get started talking about memories of Gram and Pap's house. I don't think it's really sunk in that it's not longer Gram and Pap's.

Thanks for sharing some beautiful (and silly) photos, Robin. You have documented a glimpse of cherished memories of the love and laughter we all shared in this unique and precious home. Although I spent countless hours here, I have never actually seen photographs of Gram and Pap's house, but somehow you have captured a time capsule, a bit of the special qualities of Gram's personality.
