It's been four months since our 10th Anniversary and we had yet to do anything special to celebrate - with the busyness of summer, church and homeschooling we never found a weekend to get away. And, if you know George you know that he loves his birthday - and not just his birthday, he loves his "birthday month". So - in a combined celebration of his birthday and our anniversary we dropped the kids off with Nana and went away for a weekend in Niagara Falls.
It was glitzy, it was cheesey, it was busy, it was beautiful, it was warm, it was relaxing, ... it was fun.
But I learned something about us. The glitz and glamour of Clifton Hill and the Casinos was a good time (actually a GREAT time) - but it's not "us". After a day in the Falls we drove down the Niagara Parkway, parked the car, put on our running shoes and hiked down "the Glen" to a place where the rocks jut out into the Niagara River, where we could watch the whirlpools and the rapids and dip our feet in the water. It was beautiful! This was "us". And the icing on the cake was that it was FREE. They rob you blind in Niagara Falls (can you believe is costs $10 to take an elevator down to a place near where we hiked to??). God's creation - untouched, beautiful and free to anyone who's willing to put on their running shoes.
So - after a great weekend at the Falls, a beautiful hike in the Glen and a relaxing sail on Lake Ontario with Uncle Dave I'm ready for another week of school and planning for this week's service with Connections!

Belated congrats on your 10th anniversary, Robin and George. I'm glad you finally figured out who you were. LOL. Seriously, what a wonderful tribute to your marriage. I think God was smiling this past weekend, looking down upon His most wonderful creations, man and woman, fearfully and wonderfully made, among the rest of His beautiful creation.
Congratulations on 10 years! I'm so glad you had a weekend away!
