First Love

From the beginning we have wanted to instill in the kids a love of reading. We did the whole "Good Night Moon" thing, we've had Dr. Seuss rhymes stuck in our heads, and we've endured Dick and Jane. It's cool then to see the kids latch on to a book, to really connect with an author, to find something in a book that excites them.

I'm not sure which book started it all, but Karis has developed an infatuation with Robert Munsch. It strikes her funny bone. But it's not just any Robert Munsch - it has to be illustrated by Michael Martchenko (the girls has standards you know!). I've even gone as far as buying a curriculum that uses Munsch stories as the basis (meet her where she's at, right!). So to her delight our local children's museum is now holding a Robert Munsch exhibit ...

Pucker-up Mr. Munsch!

Justin's recent infatuation has not been as long lived, but it has been intense. He got a book out of the library called "Why Things Don't Work". It takes a broken down motorcycle and through comic book drawings teaches kids how to fix it ... fascinating concept, fun to read through the first time, tedious times 9, 10 and 11. Not kidding - he actually sleeps with the book.

And Eden - well Eden will read whatever you put in front of her. Right now she's devouring magazines of every type (we've actually had to start going to a different library since she has read ever magazine at our local library).
So - we'll keep reading. And although we'll try a new book or two we keep falling back to that first love.

She has loved the M/M team for so long! Very exciting about the exhibit. Madison likes mags, too- which ones does Eden like the best??
